Bucket List item #3 can officially be marked off the list! I took my family to Buena Vista to White Water Raft this weekend. We live about 3 hours from BV, so we packed up the car and headed out in the morning...a little late I only gave us 2 hours to get there. The ride down was pretty easy and we officially made it in 2 hours. The water is triple the height it normally is due to all the snow the mountains got this year, and it was at about 47 degrees! I put the boys in wet suits and R and I got splash jackets.
We carried the raft down a very steep hill to the cold water and jumped in. We drifted along easily for about 1 1/2 hours with minimal work, enjoyed the scenery and learned a bit about some history in the area. Then the next 1 1/2 was thrilling and tiring. The boys were screaming "let's do that again" several times as I kept thinking I better not fall off this raft.
R, myself and several other rafters got to cliff jump at one point. That was cold but so awesome! We all agreed it was a great family adventure but none of us really care to do it again.
I needed Dylan to weight 50 lbs, so he set up a buffet on the kitchen floor!
Eating lunch super fast
My boys ready to go...Yes D is wearing pink water shoes!
(I got them from a friend to save on money renting them, he was a great sport)
This is just before we went. The helmets, jackets, and vest smelled so bad I almost threw up. R and I are planning our next summer adventure!
Anyone else white water raft? What did you think? Is it something you would do again?
